Debbie Harris is an acclaimed television host and the CEO of Counselor911, Inc., a media organization that airs in 22 countries in the Caribbean, as well as New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Debbie is sought-after for her services in areas of personalized family and individual counseling. Debbie is a Houston, Texas native and is a successful businesswoman who is grateful to express her vision through this first literary effort.
Ms. Harris is also the Chief Executive Officer of Counselor911.com, a nonprofit organization devoted to individual and group psychotherapy for a range of patient issues including depression and schizophrenia. Her practical approach to mental health involves three steps: identify, confront, and solve. While anyone in her field of study would be remiss if they did nothing to help individuals solve or mitigate their mental health issues through a combination of therapy and medication. She understands that her patients cannot change what they either don’t understand or don’t want to acknowledge. The very real process of self-discovery, education, awareness and soul-searching is therefore at the core of her work as a therapist, and serves as the meaning behind the talk show. In addition to her service in private practice as a Psychotherapist at Counselor911.com, Ms. Harris works as a Therapist at Partial Hospitalization Program.
Ms. Harris has more than 17 years of experience as an educator, coordinator, school counselor, and psychotherapist. Part of her experience includes working with Mental Health Partial Hospitalization Programs, community mental health centers, and other local organizations that specialize in mental health. Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Harris worked as a Therapist and Triage Clinician at MHMRA – Juvenile Justice. There, she was responsible for testing and assessment using the TONI and WRAT tests to determine IQ and academic achievement level as it relates to behavioral abnormalities. She conducted psychosocials and psychological assessments and counseling for juveniles, provided through records as designated by psychological services for mental health court. Ms. Harris gained additional experience working as a Behavioral Healthcare Advocate for United Behavior Healthcare, a School Counselor at Charlotte Mecklenburg Independent School District, and a Science Educator/Coordinator at Houston Independent School District.
Debbie Harris earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling, as well as her Master of Science degree in Human Science, from Prairie View A&M University. She is also certified in Hypnosis, and is a Certified and Licensed Christian Counselor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a Minor in Biology, from Texas Southern University, and is a member of American Psychological Associates, as well as a proud member of the NAPW.
